Who are we looking for?

We would be interested to hear from students from any discipline. Priority will be given to second year students who may have a particular interest in this field. If enough places are available first year students may also be successful.

Transport planning offers interesting and challenging careers to graduates from a wide range of disciplines - you can find out more about it at www.tps.org.uk. The most important requirements are numeracy - being happy working with data and numbers - and an ability to communicate well, speaking and in writing. And with transport high on local and national agendas, there are plenty of job opportunities in both the public and private sectors, mainly with local authorities and consultants, but also with transport operators and Government agencies.

One of the beauties of transport planning is that people move easily between sectors - over 60% of Transport Planning Society members have worked in both public and private organisations.

The deadline for applications has now passed. Details of the 2009 scheme will be available from November 2008.
